Reports to: Shareholder – Healthcare Business Operations Consultant

Position Overview:
The Medical Consultant's primary duty is to provide to clients in the healthcare industry advisory and compliance assurance services regarding a variety of practice areas. Performance is evaluated based on quality and accuracy of work, supervision of engagements, application of knowledge, and the ability to meet time and budget constraints and client deadlines.

Essential Functions:
  • Reviews and advises clients on CPT-4, ICD-10 and HCPCS coding.
  • Performs chart audits and reviews and advises on medical records.
  • Performs Medicare “shadow audits” and advises on Medicare and other payer audit appeals process.
  • Reviews and advises on medical compliance, including HIPAA and other local, state, and Federal laws.
  • Performs Fraud and Abuse audits and risk assessment analyses.
  • Reviews and advises on medical billing, accounts receivable and claims reimbursement.
  • Conducts operational and internal control reviews.
  • Develops policies and procedures for clients.
  • Performs staff training for clients.
  • Assists in business start-ups, Medicare enrollment and insurance credentialing for clients.
  • Assumes primary responsibility (under supervision) for engagements.
  • Develops business plans for medical entities.

Other Functions:
  • Develops an understanding of and adheres to Firm policies and procedures including (as appropriate) Firm’s Quality Control document.
  • Pursues continuing professional education and upgrading of skills, including attending CPE as required, reading national, professional, and local business journals and publications, and staying familiar with local, state, and Federal law as applicable to the healthcare industry.
  • Participates in local civic, charitable, business, and other organizations.
  • Achieves at least the minimum annual productivity budget for chargeable hours, chargeable percent, and realization.
  • Demonstrates the ability and desire to secure new business for the firm.
  • Effectively bills and collects charges from clients for whom the Supervisor acts as the Bill Manager and/or Primary Partner.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Required Experience and Skills:
  • Proficient with Word and Excel as well as the ability to learn other programs including Power Point, graphics, data base, e-mail, and calendar software.
  • Current knowledge of healthcare industry and the applicable Federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Displays the self-motivation to ask for and successfully complete the types of assignments and special projects that will further increase technical skills, especially if required for a specific area of expertise.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong command of English language.
  • Conducts themselves with integrity in a responsible, professional manner and appearance.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills.

Required Education: Bachelor’s in accounting or related field
Required Experience: 3 years consulting, advisory or healthcare management
License/Certification: N/A

Working Requirements:
  • Regular travel for business and occasional travel to staff meetings or to attend seminars using a personal vehicle is likely.
  • Overtime work throughout the year as engagements require is likely.

Safety:
  • Minimal hazards.
  • General office working conditions.
  • May be required to lift files/boxes in the range of 10-20 pounds.

Compensación: $94,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
